The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was constituted in 2003. The main objective of the department right from its inception is to provide high quality trained manpower as well as technical inputs primarily to meet requirements of the Indian industries and Indian R & D establishments. The faculty of the department are experienced and well qualified. This program trains students in broad areas of Microelectronics, VLSI design, Embedded systems, Communication Engineering, Networking, Signal Processing, Image Processing, Electromagnetics, Fibre Optics, Photonics, Control theory, Nanotechnology, Digital electronics, Medical Electronics, Microwave, Wireless, Satellite Communication etc.

OBJECTIVES
  • To impart up-to-date technical knowledge and skills to produce competent engineers in areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering, who will make qualitative difference in this field.
  • To inculcate a professional culture and develop capability to utilize engineering skills in industry, research centers, and national laboratories and entrepreneurship.

VLSI Laboratory

Provides hands on experience to students in the field of Analog, Digital and Mixed signal circuit design in softwares including research tools such as Cadence, Xilinx, Matlab etc.

Research & Development Laboratory

The lab is equipped with extensive simulation tools like Xilinx ISE Design suite, MATLAB, LabView etc. which prepares students for career in this constantly evolving discipline.

Communication Systems Laboratory

Imparts wide knowledge about Microwave and Optical Communication with an industrial setup.

Analog and Digital Communication Laboratory

To develop innovative and simple instructional material by using improved versions of softwares including Code Composer Studio and Texas Instruments DSP kits to guide the students towards research in communication engineering.

Microproceesor and Micro Controller Lab/Electronics Design Automation Lab

As a stepping stone to the world of Embedded System, this lab imparts basic concepts of microprocessors, microcontrollers, interfacing methods and devices, along with detailed study of important electronic design and automation issues.

Digital Electronics /Linear Integrated Circuits Laboratory

Lab involves the concepts of both digital logic circuits and linear integrated circuits with Trainer Kits, Cathode Ray Oscilloscope, Signal Generators, IC Tester, Power supplies to keep in pace with advanced era of technologies.

Electronics Circuits Laboratory

This lab is adequately equipped with major devices for signal generation like function generators and measuring devices like Cathode Ray Oscilloscope (CRO), Digital Storage Oscilloscope (DSO) to train and implement the design and set up of basic circuits.

Electronics Workshop/Mini Project Laboratory

Workshop provides hands-on practical training in the fields of basic electronics circuits with PCB designing and fabrication, which motivates to make hobby circuits to innovative products of their own.

Project Lab

Provides a state-of-the-art environment with high end facilities where students become proficient at both the physical and creative skills needed in the workforce.

Power Electronics and Instrumentation Lab

Laboratory facilitates practices as well as research in Industrial Electronics, Measurement Systems, pure and applied Instrumentation etc. with various modules for the measurement of flow, level, pressure and various Transducer kits, Chopper kits etc to improve their skills in this area.

VLSI DESIGN

The PG in VLSI Design is aimed at developing experts with foci on technical capabilities and to impart training in designing complex circuits. The course aims to introduce students to the design of Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) microelectronic circuits, focusing on back-end integrated circuit design (custom transistor-level layout as well as design flow based on standard cells) using the latest Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools. VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration) has emerged as a very important technology in modern electronics featuring deep sub-micron manufacturing processes, low voltage operations, smart programmable devices and exploding speeds sufficient enough to digest ambient conditions to extremes. VLSI under M. Tech aims at exploring areas in system designing including algorithms, system architecture, hardware description languages, physical designing, simulation and synthesis, and verification or testing techniques.

PG VLSI Design laboratory is equipped with most modern design tools like Xilinx, Cadence Softwares, Digilent FPGA kits etc.

The department conducts regular seminars /workshops to upgrade the knowledge of the staff and impart the same to the students.

Cadence,CoreEL Technologies, HCL, ST Microelectronics, and Wipro are among the major recruiters of candidates acquiring M. Tech in this area.
