Technical talk on “Major water quality issues in Kerala” was conducted for S1and S3 students of B.Tech and M.Tech.Mr.Ajish V C, Assistant Engineer, Kerala Water Authority was the resource person.
Invited talk on “Current Trends In Cement Industry” was conducted for the B.Tech and M.Tech students of Civil Engineering Mr.SarathVinod, Manager Technical, Ultratech Cements Ltd. Chennai was the resource person.
One day workshop on “Finite Element Modelling” was organised for the M.Tech and B.Tech students. Session was handled by Er. BennetKuriakose, Head of Department, Mangalam College of Engineering.
A one day workshop session – “Innovative Techniques in Infrastructure Development” was conducted by M/s Maccaferri Environmental Solutions Pvt. Ltd, India. The 7th semester B.Tech students, 1st and 3rd semester M.Tech students attended the workshop.Ms.AnnapoorniIyer, Assistant General Manager, Mr. S. Reginald, Design Manager and Mr. Anwar Mohammed, Sr. Regional Manager of M/s Maccaferri Environmental Solutions Pvt. Ltd delivered technical lectures and presentations regarding the state of the art technology and industrial practices in design and construction of Gabion walls, reinforced earth, Geosynthetics etc.
Namitha V.N., (M.Tech, 2014 Batch) presented a paper in the Indian Geotechnical Conference, 2016 which was conducted at IIT,Madras.
Ms.Aparna E M was awarded “IGS AISAT Award 2016” for the thesis entitled “Influence of Aggregate Filled Geocell Reinforcement On The Uplift Resistance Of Anchor Plate In Medium Dense Sand” as one among the best five M.Tech Thesis in Geotechnical Engineering in Kerala.
Every year, the department conducts a National Conference in Geotechnical Engineering under the title, “Innovations and Challenges in Geotechnical Engineering”.
The thesis works of M. Tech students have been published in reputed journals and international conferences.

An Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) is functioning in our department with the intention of developing entrepreneurship skills of the students.
PMKVY (Prime Minister's KausalVikasYochana) programme was launched by UTL Technologies Regional Head Mr.ArvindGovindaraj.
Research and Development Centre was opened in our department. It provides working ambience to the students apart from academic knowledge.

DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING (ECE)
SRUTHI.T.G. of ECE (2009-2013) got 3rd rank in Calicut university results
As a proof of continuous improvement, 2016 batch KTU first year result of ECE dept secured 3rd position among 17 colleges in Thrissur cluster.
The department has a versatile Research and Development Laboratory that has secured nine IEEE funded projects.
The department conducts regular conferences, seminars and workshops to upgrade the knowledge of the staff and to impart the same to the students.
The department is proud that one of our students Mr. Ceeyus Vareed achieved rare distinction of being selected among the five finalists for IEEE (GHTC) Global Humanitarian Technical Conference 2013 in the International Level Scientific Poster Presentation at Silicon Valley, USA and won second prize.
Final year projects of 8th semester students are taken for project presentations in various reputed colleges and students won the cash prizes for their projects.
ECE students had undergone training and internship programs at various reputed firms like Akashavani, Ernakulam, BSNL, Thrissur and KELTRON, Calicut & Ernakulam.

Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized an invited lecture programme on “OVERVIEW ON ELECTRICAL POWER SCENARIO IN KERALA”. The lecture was given by Mr.V A Manoj (Executive Engineer,KSEB).
Hands on MEP CAD Workshop was organized by EEE department. The chief guest was Mr.SreejithMenon (Managing Director, SPACE ACADEMY).
A class on “UG CABLES” were conducted for S8 students by Mr.Subrahmanian.
Industrial Visit to ACE Components and study tour to Bangalore was arranged for S5 studentsas part of their curriculum.
8 Project groups of S7 students were selected in “ KITS INNOVIBES ”
Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering conducted a seminar on “GO GREEN”. The chief guest of the programme was Mr.Visal Varghese (Branch manager, Go Green Solar Pvt. Ltd.).
2 students of S8 (Remya S Nair, Hifa P K,) participated in “8th seminar series on power system harmonics” conducted by KSEB and secured 2nd prize.

A seminar was conducted by “Techsor” an institute that provides training in CNC, CAD,MASTERCAM and HVAC solutions for mechanical students.
A seminar on “Anti Drug Awareness” was handled by Mr. Sunny P L, Civil Excise officer, in the EEE seminar Hall for students of second and third year mechanical engineering.
A seminar on “Recent Trends in Engineering” was handled by Mr Rafin T A,CIDA solutions for students of mechanical engineering.
Mechanical Engineering faculty regularly attends faculty development programs to sharpen their Technical and Teaching skills.
A colloquium on ‘Lean Manufacturing’, organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IES College of Engineering, Chittilappilly, Thrissur. The session was headed by Prof. Ian Pashby, Department of Engineering, and University of Hull, United Kingdom.
