NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS)

The National Service Scheme (NSS), under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, popularly known as NSS, was launched in 1969, the birth centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi. It began in 37 universities involving 40,000 students, with the primary focus on the development of students’ personality through community service. The motto of NSS, “Not Me, But You,” reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service. NSS helps students develop an appreciation for other people’s points of view and encourages consideration towards all living beings. IES College of Engineering, through its NSS unit, extends a helping hand to society and contributes to the holistic development of students by enhancing their interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, and social responsibility. The NSS unit is headed by the Principal, and the activities are coordinated by the Programme Officer along with two Volunteer Secretaries who have successfully completed the first year in NSS, including the Special Camp.
